Welcome Back

Well, I finally have my site back online.  I'm slowly getting things going again, so keep checking back for what will hopefully be daily ramblings, cool ideas, and general articles of different technologies I am playing with.  I hope to keep this blog updated as much as possible.  This time around.  No really I promise.

Too-Social Networking

Idling around at work, I caught this article on Time.com:

25 Things I Didn't Want to Know About You

I wholeheartedly agree with the author, and it reminds me of why I sometimes hate social networking.  Sure, I myself have a Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and LinkdIn account (and at least 2 user names on all those instant messaging protocols... and I won't even start with emails), but sometimes people are FAR too open and take the persona's they portray on these networks WAY too seriously.  I've even had a first hand taste of this now drama laced internet underground via MySpace.  In either case, if you aren't keeping things anonymous, please refrain from telling us what monkey's have done to you.  You never know who you know that's reading or who you work with is reading.

openfilm

My E sent me a link to this site called openfilm.  It's like a grown up version of YouTube, where users can enjoy quality work and where filmmakers can exhibit their wild ideas for us to enjoy.  It also doesn't have teens running into trees, or "This video has been removed due to copyright violation."

Here's my favorite of the day:

Super Obama World!!

This is a funny little game.

If only I had time to sit around and code Flash games, that would be great.  Hmm, speaking of which, I wonder what is going on at Popfly these days....

eBook vs Book

Amazon realeased the Kindle 2 today.  Thinner, faster, more space, blah blah blah as with other product upgrades.  Even though its cool, and even though you get free wireless to download books whenever/wherever*, I'm still torn about owning one.  Why?  Because I still like the physical touch of books.  And probably just like I don't need the 80 gigs of mp3 I carry around on my iPod, I'm quite sure I don't need 1500 books.

Welcome to mbu Creations

At long last, mbu Creations is back online.  I've decided to go ahead and launch a little "pre-finished", to allow visitors the opportunity to watch the site grow and mature.  Please check back for more information, more areas, and more general ramblings from mbu.

A groggy Monday.

Well, it's Monday.  And, I have been sick for the past few days.  So, that is why there have been no updates.  But as usual with me after getting over a cold, I feel incredibly energized and really creative.  And, I plan on using this creative worldwind to actually update do stuff on the site.  I really need to finish my first article, "What is 'Content'?".  But we'll see how that goes.

The views of Drupal

As I experiment with Drupal more and more, I find little things I love.  I recently had a love affair with Joomla!, but now that I've actually taken on doing a few sites back-ended Drupal, I understand and see the power it truly possesses.  It's really outstanding for people that are fluent in PHP, and really want low level granular control of things.   I'm currently working on the portfolio section of mbu Creations, and am loving the power I have with Views.  Since most "posts" inside Drupal are nodes, Views allows you to pull the nodes dynamically and display them however you want.  I'll probably post more after I've gotten the portfolio fully operational, but I'm so happy I didn't initially do the site with Joomla!

The great iPhone debate.

I have been stubbornly resisting it like a mean old man, but my current Windows Mobile phone has ticked me off with such passion, that I'm seriously considering buying an iPhone.  After numorous crashes, random restarts, and other general FUN that come with running anything Windows, I'm just done.  Even though I despise Apple's closed platform approach, it does just work.  And from what I hear and see, reliably well.  The apps have me excited too.  Sure Windows Mobile has had apps for years, most of the stuff you find on the thousand (or million) different stores suck.  I actually would like one centralized place to buy certified apps of somewhat reasonably judged quality.  It's easier and more trustworthy in my opinion.

It's alive!!

Well, it's late, my eyes are on fire, and I should probably be in bed.  But in more exciting news, the portfolio is online!!  Which is much more important that sleep anyday.
Please go and have a look at the creations, and be sure to check back to see what further things are yet to come!!

Now to finish a rebuttal to a "this site sucks" comment, which will be an excellent entry way into the coming article "What is 'content'?".

Night!
